Race for the Cure
Northwestern Ohio
This annual event is a 5
kilometer race and fitness walk series
taking place every year in over one-hundred American cities.
Besides succeeding as a catalyst for patient and public interaction,
the race itself insures funding for various healthcare-oriented
projects.
Rain or shine thousands of survivors, support teams,
volunteers
and well-wishers-- runners and walkers, crutchers
and wheelers,
trek through the city's canyon'd corridors. They are welcomed
into nearby neighborhoods with its kids and porch folk waving and
applauding all the way. At the finish-line the assembled people appear as a
pinkly dappled, heart-shaped human quilt-- woven of love and caring
and warmly displayed in various hues of pure human compassion.
